My mom turned 15 years old a few weeks before I was born. From a young age I knew that having a teenage mom wasn’t too common. The doctor who delivered me told her that she needed to adopt me out, because there was no chance she could provide a “good” life for me. (hello! can we say wildly inappropriate? sheesh!)
She may have been a teenager, but she knew how deeply wrong he was. Her enduring connection to that truth is what allowed me to enjoy a loving and supportive childhood (and adulthood!).I often wonder where I’d be had she accepted the doctor’s version of “truth.”
Sometimes, in order to remain authentic, releasing layers of old opinions helps keep the soul aligned. As we evolve and expand, certain beliefs can tend to become stale, less important or too small to retain.
This week’s Soul Guidance reading asks us to acknowledge our current values, release the old ones and take the reins as we evolve.
